Dear ladies and gentlemen, dear colleagues!
We invite you to take part in the 2nd International Conference – Lviv 2018 “Sociolinguistic knowledge as a means for creating a new security culture: Ukraine and the World”, which will be held November 22-23, 2018 at Lviv National University (Lviv, Universytetska St., 1 ). This forum is a continuation of the annual All-Ukrainian Sociolinguistic Seminars (2004-2015) and the 1st International Conference – Lviv 2016 “Sociolinguistic knowledge as a means for creating a new security culture: Ukraine and the World”. Scientific meetings in 2015-2016 were held with the assistance of the NATO Information and Documentation Center in Ukraine.
The purpose of the 2018 Conference is to discuss a wide range of issues related to the role of language in modern social processes in Ukraine and other countries, to facilitate the exchange of experience, the development of new ideas and recommendations for the implementation of the National Security Strategy of Ukraine.
Topics for discussion:
1.Language and Society: Interdisciplinary Analysis, Directions of Research in Sociolinguistics.
2.Interaction language – national security. Theoretical and applied aspects of analysis.
3.Interstate communication and hybrid threats.
4.Language and identity, language and ideology, language and culture.
5.Interaction language – politics as a language policy and language policy. Political Communication.
6.Language situation: the status and functions of languages, the attitude of carriers, the actions of the authorities.
7.Linguistic landscape as a marker of society and government.
8.Language and education, church, business, healthcare, army, family, etc.
9.Interpersonal communication, communication between different social groups (in materials of sociological surveys, a discourse of traditional mass media and social media, artistic discourse, etc.).
10.Language, public opinion, propaganda: history, present.
11.Language and Migration Policy.
12.Theory and practice of teaching disciplines of sociolinguistics.
13.The security dimension of humanitarian education and its sociolinguistic markers.
Abstracts (no more than 300 words) are to be sent by October 20, 2018, to the e-mail address of the Organizing Committee of the conference: sociolinguistics.lviv@gmail.com to Svitlana Volodymyrivna Vinnichenko, contact number: 096 279 2681. The announcement of the abstract will be received no later than October 25. The theses will be published before the conference in the Materials of the II International Conference – Lviv 2018 “Sociolinguistic knowledge as a means for creating a new security culture: Ukraine and the World”.

The publications of the participants will be: a) in the next issue of the collection “Language and Society” for 2018 and 2019 (a collection from 2015 indexed in the scientific basis of Index Copernicus); b) in the Bulletin of Lviv University. Series of international relations for 2018-2019 years.
