Lviv University, in collaboration with the international auditing and consulting firm KPMG and Ukrainian academic society, has initiated discussions on the concept of training specialists in international project management for Ukraine’s reconstruction. Last week, a workshop was held in Lviv to develop the concept of educational certification programs in management, auditing, business consulting, and legal support for investment projects. This event gathered representatives from 14 leading Ukrainian universities and experienced business consultants from international companies.
Lviv University has already established a long-standing and productive collaboration with KPMG Ukraine, particularly with its Lviv office, headed by our alumnus Maksym Voitsekhovsky. This event marked another step in strengthening and expanding the partnership, as it was also coordinated by KPMG Germany within the framework of developing the Ukrainian-German investment potential.
“At Lviv University, it is extremely important for us today to contribute to the promotion of such international educational initiatives. We strive not only to adapt to labor market requirements but also to shape them for Ukraine’s future reconstruction as part of the European space. Therefore, we started a collaboration of Ukrainian university with support of KPMG in the development and promotion of the idea of an applied educational program for international investment projects,” commented Andrii Gukaliuk, First Vice-Rector of Lviv University.
In total, more than 40 representatives from academia and business participated in the event, discussing ways to align educational programs with international business standards. Leading experts from the University’s faculties actively cooperating with KPMG in the development of business-oriented educational programs according to best international practices took part – including the Faculty of Economics (Assoc. Prof. Vira Shevchuk, Assoc. Prof. Marianna Kokhan, Assoc. Prof. Anna Hryshchuk), Faculty of Law (Assoc. Prof. Natalya Paslavska), and the Faculty of Finance and Business Management (Assoc. Prof. Olga Sych).
Special attention was given to the alignment of specialist training with global market demands and German enterprises, which operate under clearly defined procedures in procurement, production, sales, and key support functions such as HR, finance, and IT. Integrating these principles into educational programs will facilitate investment attraction and create new opportunities for students.
The formation of a competitive workforce with knowledge of international and German regulatory requirements is a crucial factor for Ukraine’s economic resilience and its integration into global economic processes.
Ivan Franko National University of Lviv expresses its sincere gratitude to KPMG Germany for supporting the development of educational and professional opportunities in Ukraine. Special thanks go to Nicolai Kiskalt, Coordinator of KPMG Germany’s activities within the framework of the international KPMG Ukraine Gateway Initiative, as well as the entire team involved in organizing the event.
This initiative is an important step towards Ukraine’s reconstruction and its integration into the international economic space, and Lviv University will continue to actively support these processes.
