SCIENTISTS FROM MAX PLANCK INSTITUTE OF SOLID-STATE CHEMICAL PHYSICS (GERMANY) VISITED LVIV UNIVERSITY

On November 16, 2017, a meeting with scientists from Max Planck Institute of Solid-State Chemical Physics (Dresden, Germany) was held at Ivan Franko National University of Lviv. The delegation consisted of Prof. Dr. Claudia Felser, Director of the Department Solid-State Chemistry, Prof. Dr. Juri Grin, Director of the Department Chemical Metals Science, Prof. Dr. Andrew P. Mackenzie, Director of the Department Physics of Quantum Materials and Prof. Dr. Liu Hao Tjeng, Director of the Department Physics of Correlated Matter.

During the meeting with the Rector of the University, Professor Volodymyr Melnyk the priority directions of cooperation, the actual issues of training specialists in the field of natural sciences and the implementation of research results were discussed.

At the meeting with the University’s scientists in the Mirror Hall, the guests were greeted by the Vice-Rector for Research, Corresponding Member of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, Professor Roman Gladyshevskii, who spoke about the history of the formation of science at Lviv University.

Subsequently, the scientists of the Departments of Inorganic Chemistry, Experimental Physics and Metal Physics presented the results of scientific research. In particular, the Junior Research Fellow of the Department of Inorganic Chemistry, Candidate of Chemical Sciences Oksana Zaremba told about the directions of scientific research of the Department, Senior Research Fellow of the Department of Inorganic Chemistry, Candidate of Chemical Sciences Volodymyr Babizhetskyi prepared a presentation “Crystal Chemistry of Boric Acid and Borosilicides of Rare Earth Metals”, thehead of the Experimental Physics Department , Doctor of Physical and Mathematical Sciences, Professor Anatoliy Voloshynovskyi made a presentation “Nanocomposite Fluorescence Materials”, and the Head of the Department of Physics of Metals, Doctor of Physical and Mathematical Sciences, Professor Stepan Mudryi spoke about crystalline, amorphous and nanocomposite materials based on aluminum.

Присутні мали змогу ознайомитись із результатами наукових досліджень кафедри неорганічної хімії під час стендових доповідей. Відбулася жвава дискусія між вченими Макс Планк Інституту хімічної фізики твердого тіла та Львівського національного університету імені Івана Франка.

The participants got acquainted with the results of scientific research of the Department of Inorganic Chemistry during the poster presentations. A lively discussion took place between scientists from Max Planck Institute of Solid-State Chemical Physics and Ivan Franko Lviv National University.

In the final word, Professor Roman Gladyshevskii wished scientists would continue fruitful cooperation between the institutions.
