Scientists of Lviv University have been awarded regional prizes

On November 12, 2021, in the hall of Lviv vocational college of tourism, hotel and restaurant service, the leading scientists of the Lviv region were awarded regional prizes for significant advances in the domain of science.

Well-known scientists, experts, as well as young researchers are awarded the traditional annual prize for scientific developments by the Lviv Regional State Administration and the Lviv Regional Council in order to support and stimulate their further research. This year, there are 25 scientists-winners from Ivan Franko National University of Lviv.

The awards were granted to the scientists by the Minister of Education and Science of Ukraine Serhiy Shkarlet, the Deputy Chairman of the Lviv Regional State Administration Ivan Sobko, and the Deputy Director of the Department of Education and Science of the Lviv Regional State Administration Olha Kotovska.

Congratulating Lviv scientists on the occasion, Serhiy Shkarlet noted that educators are the leaders of our bright future, which we raise our children for and share our knowledge with. He also stressed that in-person learning is extremely important for the quality of education. Therefore, teachers, scientists, lecturers must support vaccination, as it will let us return to offline learning. “Education and medicine must carry the ray of hope which should protect us and lead to a normal healthy life,” the Minister added.

Later, Ivan Sobko addressed the audience. “In fact, the work of scientists is invaluable! And the Lviv Regional State Administration is doing everything to stimulate the development of science. The state needs highly- moral, highly- educated, considerable and strong Ukrainians! That is why when investing in roads and capital construction, we never forget about education and science!” Ivan Sobko said.

Olha Kotovska also joined the congratulatory speeches. Then the awarding process began. Thus, this year the following representatives of Ivan Franko National University of Lviv received awards:

  1.  Khrystyna Hnatenko – Doctor of Physics and Mathematics, Associate Professor of the Department of Theoretical Physics named after Professor Ivan Vakarchuk, Faculty of Physics;
  2.  Antonina Kolodiy – Doctor of Philosophy, Professor of the Department of Political Science, Faculty of Philosophy;
  3.  Andriy Luchechko – Doctor of Physics and Mathematics, Professor of the Department of Sensory and Semiconductor Electronics, Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Electronics and Computer Technologies for teaching and learning.
  4. Yaroslav Shpotyuk – Candidate of Physics and Mathematics, Senior Research Associate of the Research Laboratory of NDL-20 Sensors, Assistant Professor of Sensory and Semiconductor Electronics, Faculty of Electronics and Computer Technology;
  5.  Olena Aksimentiieva – Doctor of Chemistry, Chief Research Associateof the Department of Physical and Colloid Chemistry, Professor of the Department of Physical and Colloid Chemistry, Faculty of Chemistry.
  6.  Oleksandr Andreykiv – Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor, Corresponding Member of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, Acting Head of the Department of Mechanics, Faculty of Mechanics and Mathematics;
  7.  Yuliia Horbenko – Candidate  Sc of Chemistry, Senior Research Associate, Department of Physical and Colloid Chemistry, Faculty of Chemistry;
  8. Ihor Dykiy – Cand Sc of Biology, Associate Professor of Zoology, Faculty of Biology;
