The general meeting of the Ph.D. students was held on September, 24, 2020 in the assembly hall of the Ivan Franko National University of Lviv. During the meeting junior professionals got acquainted with the educational process and were provided with detailed information on the scholarly, educational and professional opportunities. The representatives of the university administration office and the first-year Ph.D. students participated in the meeting.
Roman Hladyshevskyi, the vice-chancellor for sresearch congratulated all the students on their being admitted to postgraduate studies. He explained the peculiarities of the classification of scientific publications to the students, stressed the importance of working on the scientific publications of theirs and proided some pieces of advice on writing a Ph.D. thesis.
In particular, Roman Yevhenovych encouraged the students to actively participate in the academic conferences and demonstrate their knowledge, skills and to share their ideas, “Earlier to participate in an academic conference and get some new experience from the foreign colleagues one had to undergo plenty of long procedures including the very business trip. Nowadays with the development of state-of-the-art technologies you can reach any academic event in the world just entering the Internet. Therefore, do not miss those valuable opportunities for your professional development”.
Ivan Kunio the deputy of the head of the scientific and research department familiarized the Ph.D. students with the main principles of the academic honesty, the major of which is establishing the high level of academic culture inside the participants of the academic process. Ivan Mykhailovych drew the main attention to checking the academic works for plagiarism.
Ivan Kunio also mentioned that the Provision on providing the academic honesty at the Ivan Franko National University of Lviv had been adopted at the university. It is worth mentioning that every Ph.D. student of the University has to sign the Declaration of adherence to academic honesty.
The representative of the Department of international relations Sofia Pyvovar briefly spoke about the opportunities of participation in the mobility programmes available at the Ivan Franko National University of Lviv, which enable Ph.D. students to acquire some new experience abroad. The head of the Postgraduate and doctoral studies department Natalia Lytvynovych and their main specialist spoke about the academic process of the postgraduate studies, explained the necessity of preparation and legalization of different documentation and reminded about the opportunities and duties of the Ph.D. students as well.
At the end of the meeting every volunteer had a chance to ask any member of the administrative staff some questions and learn the necessary information on the educational fellowship, the finals period, the difference between the types of studying and other details required to successfully acquire the academic degree.
