The President of the University Volodymyr Melnyk met with the representatives of the Embassy of Kazakhstan in Ukraine

On February, 19, 2021 the members of the Embassy of the Republic of Kazakhstan in Ukraine, minister counsellor Totkar Ihembaev, counsellor Arnur Tanbai, honorable ambassador of the Republic of Kazakhstan in Ukraine Halyna Masliuk and Viktoriia Buchko, assistant to the ambassador paid a visit to Ivan Franko National University of Lviv. During their stay, the diplomatic officers met with Volodymyr Melnyk, the President of the University, fist vice-president Andrii Hukaliak and the head of the International relations department Luibov Chapliak.

During the meeting, initiated by our Kazakh colleagues, they discussed the prospects of strengthening academic and cultural collaboration between Ivan Franko National University of Lviv and Kazakh higher educational establishments. In particular, the embassy representatives proposed to sign a memorandum on collaboration between Lviv university and L.N. Gumilyov Eurasian National University.

Moreover, the diplomatic officers offered to arrange a photo exhibition at the university this year dedicate to modern life in Kazakhstan and as well as conducting a presentation of Ukrainian translation of the work “Shakarim” which depicts a profound biography of Shakarim Kudaiberdiev – the nephew of an outstanding poet and thinker Abai. The author of the book is Yerlan Sydykov, the president of L.N. Gumilyov Eurasian National University.

According to Kazakh diplomatic officials, strengthening of collaboration between Lviv university and intellectual environment Kazakhstan is of utmost importance as this collaboration contributes to establishing productive international relations. In particular, diplomatic officials expressed their interest in youth obtaining education at Ivan Franko National University of Lviv.

The university President Volodymyr Melnyk mentioned that Lviv university was always open to collaboration targeted at extending educational, scientific and and cultural collaboration of Ukraine with friendly nations. In addition to this, the university president said that foreigners who want to study at Lviv university have more favourable conditions, in particular, taking into account the fact that the methods of teaching Ukrainian as a foreign language at Lviv university is one of the most efficient in our country.
