Ivan Franko National University of Lviv once again ranks among Ukraine’s three most popular higher education institutions by the number of applications for bachelor’s programmes. This year, Lviv University received more than 53,000 applications from over 22,000 prospective students, with 46,619 applications eligible for consideration.
The 2026 admissions campaign at Ivan Franko National University of Lviv has seen an increase in applications compared with last year. As of 2 August, 22,200 prospective students had applied to the University, up 15.5% from 2025. The total number of applications rose from 45,170 to 53,472, an increase of 18.4%.
The Faculty of Economics received the largest number of applications this year (14,138), followed by the Faculty of Foreign Languages (5,519), the Faculty of International Relations (4,834), the Faculty of Philosophy (4,339) and the Faculty of Law (3,102).
The University’s five most popular fields of study this year were B11 Philology (8,166 applications), C1 Economics and International Economic Relations (4,894), D3 Management (4,036), C4 Psychology (3,173) and D8 Law (3,102).
As in previous years, the University attracted applicants from across Ukraine. The largest number of applications came from Lviv Region, with 25,208 submitted by local applicants. Other regions were also strongly represented, including Rivne (2,793 applications), Khmelnytskyi (2,653), Ivano-Frankivsk (2,575), Volyn (2,316), Ternopil (1,947), Dnipropetrovsk (1,813), Zakarpattia (1,605) and Vinnytsia (1,498).
The preliminary results of the 2026 admissions campaign reaffirm the consistently high level of trust that applicants place in Ivan Franko National University of Lviv. The growing numbers of both applicants and applications show that the University continues to be one of Ukraine’s most attractive higher education institutions.
