Impact of transport infrastructure development on economic growth of European Union member states.

This research focuses on the impact of transport infrastructure on economic growth of the European Union member states. The evolution of classic and modern views on the formation and development of EU transport infrastructure was highlighted. The place of the common transport policy in European economic integration was defined.
Correlation studies investigated the impact of investment in transport infrastructure on economic growth of EU member states during the period of 2000-2014. The positive impacts of transport infrastructure investment on import to the EU-27, on the export of goods and services from the EU members to the world as a whole, GDP, GDP per capita and CPI were proved. Accordingly, the growth dynamics of railway transportation, the dynamics of freight rail transport, foreign direct investment, GDP, investment income, GDP, prices and costs flowing on innovation will increase the level of investment in transport infrastructure development and foreign direct investment in general.
It was found that the main priorities of the EU transportation with other countries are to increase transnational international traffic and transit, which is the basis of building a modern and adequate infrastructure.
The financing of infrastructure investment projects of the EU member states is mainly mixed, i.e. involving own funds of transport companies, public spending and private investment. It raises the problem of finding ways to attract the long-term investment from various financial resources, including the use of various forms of organizational and economic partnership between the state and private business.
Correlation studies for Ukraine confirmed the deposit of investment in transport infrastructure and other factors of economic growth. Based on the research and experience of EU member states the recommendations for Ukraine’s transport infrastructure were developed.
