80 Norwegian students visited Lviv University

During the tour around Ukraine 80 university students from Norway visited Lviv on March 23, 2017. In order to more deeply understand Ukrainian history, society and education system of our country the representatives of Norwegian Universities visited Ivan Franko National University of Lviv.

During a meeting with guests of the University th Vice Rector for scientific and pedagogical work and international cooperation Mariya Zubrytska spoke about the historical and cultural ties between Lviv University and Norway, focusing, in particular, on the outstanding Norwegian writer and Nobel Prize Laureate Bjørnstjerne Bjørnson who in 1907 defended the rights of University students to receive education in Ukrainian language.

Deputy Dean of the Faculty of International Relations Yuriy Fedun told about the specifics of teaching at the faculty and director of the Northern Europe Center of the University Marianna Gladysh informed the guests about the main activities of the Center. Also the meeting was attended by Natalia Ivanychuk – Norwegian language teacher and translator from Scandinavian languages, member of the Union of Writers of Ukraine.

Also, Norwegian students visited the Museum of History of the University.

It is worth mentioning that the journey of Norwegian students into Ukraine is a voluntary initiative of Ukrainian-Scandinavian Center.
