Stanislav Korchemlyuk, a student of the Faculty of Economics of the Ivan Franko National University of Lviv, became the bronze medalist of the European Cup among juniors, which took place in the Lithuanian city of Kaunas on May 13-14.

178 athletes from 16 European countries took part in the competition. Representing the national team of Ukraine, Stanislav Korchemlyuk managed to defeat a judoka from Latvia in the quarterfinals thanks to the “ko-soto-gake” technique at Vasa-ari. In the semifinals, the Ukrainian lost to a judoka from the Czech Republic and got the opportunity to fight for bronze. And so, in the bronze final, Stanislav fought against a judoka from Poland, where he managed to perform ippon in “ne-waza” and become the bronze medalist of the European Cup among juniors.

“The victory of a judoka always depends on the judging and the subgroup in which the athlete performs,” said Honored Coach of Ukraine, Honored Worker of Physical Culture, Master of Sports, Senior Lecturer of the Department of Physical Education and Sports Araz Tuvakov. – Today, Stanislav Korchemlyuk is one of the best judo athletes in Ukraine and Europe in his age category. This time in the European Cup final, Stanislav’s opponent was a bit older than him, but they are satisfied with the result. But everything is just beginning, and now we plan to actively train and prepare for the Olympic Games already among adults.”

We congratulate Stanislav Korchemlyuk and his mentor, Honored Coach of Ukraine Araz Tuvakov, on their excellent result and wish them further sporting victories!
