The IV international workshop “Disciplinary challenges in the field of European integration: the experience of post-socialist countries” was held

On July 19, 2023, the IV international workshop “Disciplinary challenges in the field of European integration: the experience of post-socialist countries” was held at the Ivan Franko National University of Lviv as part of the implementation of the project 599469-EPP-1-2018-1-UA-EPJMO-SoE: WEST UKRAINIAN EUROPEAN STUDIES RESEARCH CENTER, the main task of which was the discussion of disciplinary challenges for European studies in Ukraine and in the post-socialist space, as well as the experience of implementing projects in the field of European studies in Ukraine.

The head of the project, the head of the Center, Oksana Golovko-Gavrysheva, described the main directions of its research and activities. The manager of the Jean Monet area of the National Erasmus+ Office in Ukraine, Petro Kraynik, described the practice of the program and the disciplines that receive support within the framework of European studies. Head of the EU Information Center, head of the European and Regional Studies Department of the Faculty of International Relations of the Ivan Franko National University of Lviv Nataliya Antoniuk described the EU networks in Ukraine and the activities of the EU Information Center, its task to promote networking and interdisciplinary cooperation in the field of European integration. Senior research associate of the Jean Monet Center of Excellence of the Ivan Franko National University of Lviv, associate professor of the Department of European and Regional Studies Oksana Kraevska presented the bachelor’s program “European Studies” and the master’s program “European Studies” of the Faculty of International Relations of LNU named after Ivan Franko, which the University developed in response to the growing need for specialists in various aspects of European integration in Ukraine. Assistant Professor of the Department of Financial Management of the Faculty of Finance and Business Management, coordinator of the Zhan Monet 620957-EPP-1-2020-1-UA-EPPJMO-MODULE “Urban revitalization – EU experience for Ukraine” project coordinator, Olha Sych emphasized interdisciplinarity as a characteristic of European studies, thanks to which it becomes possible to study the European experience in the revitalization of territories. Vasyl Zelenko, associate professor of the Department of Economics and Public Administration of the Faculty of Finance and Business Management, and senior researcher at the Jean Monnet Center of Excellence, presented a new project of the Department of Economics and Public Administration, dedicated to the management of sustainable development in the process of European integration. The head of the National Erasmus+ Office, Svitlana Shitikova, emphasized the role of disciplinary approaches to solving complex issues of the European integration of Ukraine and the need for the formation and networking of Jean Monnet Centers of Excellence to ensure progress in matters of Ukraine’s membership in the EU and high-quality academic support for Ukraine’s accession to the EU in combination with issues post-war reconstruction of the country.
